|Cemetery notes and/or description:|
The cemetery can be found along the Liniestraat. Most soldiers burried here were killed during the so called battle of the silver helmets on 12/08/1914. In english literature also know as the battle of Haelen. After the german victory around Liege the river Gete was the new defence line against the germans. Notwithstanding that this battle was a rather small one it is considered by historions as the last battle in Western Europe with the blank sabre. Te battle was a succes for the belgian army but only a temporary one. Soon afterwards the belgian army had to withdraw around Antwerp.
