|Cemetery notes and/or description:|
The Michael Cemetery at Firm Rock Plantation is located on military lots assigned to family patriarch Philip Michael under Deakin's Survey. Philip, the Michael family's immigrant ancestor, came to then-Allegany County after serving in the Revolutionary War as a resident of Loudoun County, VA. The earliest burial is that of Philip's grandson, Joseph Michael (1809-1824). According to family history, two weeks prior to his death in a nearby coal mine, Joseph told his father (John, Sr.) that the site was a good place for a cemetery.
