James City County
|Cemetery notes and/or description:|
The address for this cemetery is 110 Maxton Lane, Williamsburg, Virginia, 23188.
In 1904, at a cost of $1,200, Zion Church was built on Richmond Road, on property given by C. M. Bergh. Mr. Bergh also gave land for a cemetery on Riverview Road. Because of a disagreement among the church members, Bethany Church was built on the corner of Croaker Road and Maxton Lane. In 1932, the congregations reunited under the new name, Our Saviour's Lutheran Church. Bethany Church was used as a parish house until it was purchased by Williamsburg Mennonite Church in 1978. Bethany Cemetery is directly behind Bethany Church which is now named the Williamsburg Mennonite Church.
