Old Jacksonville Cemetery
Floyd
Floyd County
Virginia  USA

Cemetery notes and/or description:
Circa 1827 - David Kitterman's family cemetery was sold to the town in 1852 for One dollar. The cemetery is a lot covering about one and one fourth acre of land and about one hundred by two hundred feet in the heart of downtown Floyd.
The unmarked graves in the front of the cemetery are those of the slaves. It also holds the grave of a War of 1812 soldier and Civil War veterans. Hervey Deskins, signer of the Articles of Secession, and Nathaniel Henry, son of Patrick Henry are also buried here although no grave markers remain.

There is a very peculiar stone over the grave of Isabella Headen 1842-1844. Across the grave there is a large block of local soapstone, on four legs, which completely covers the grave. It is about four by seven feet.
