Cemetery notes and/or description:
There is a photo of a clipping from the Glasgow Republican dated May 11th. 1898 edition in the photo section of this site. I have a copy of the original paper showing the Poplar Log Cemetery is in Freedom Ky.
As you can see the preparation for the what was called the decoration day which was, and still is the 30th of May.
There has been some different opinions as to where the Cemetery is located. It is in Freedom near what used to be the Freedom Ky.Post office, and the building is still standing,and you can see the cemetery from the rear of the old Post Office building. I am 78 years old and remember the country store that was part of the Post Office. They were both in the same building. If you look @ the map the building is located in the middle of the name Tompkinsville rd. you can see the curve starting up the hill and just over the hill on the same side of the road as the Cemetery.
