|Cemetery notes and/or description:|
The Auburn Cemetery started as a family burial ground on land owned by the Sawyer and Belcher families. It was later opened to the community of Auburn, Oklahoma. It was named for the former home of some of the settlers who came from Auburn, Kentucky. The earliest stone is that of Benjamin Sawyer. He was buried in Kentucky and when the family found the cemetery was not being kept they brought back the footstone and had it marked with the names of his grandchildren.
The cemetery is located 1 ½ miles west of Lambert, 3 miles north and ½ mile west.
