If you are going to add a memorial to this cemetery PLEASE be sure this is the correct cemetery. There are Oak Grove Cemeteries in Armstrong Co (near Chicora, Butler Co.); in Allegheny Co. in Shaler Twp.; and in Beaver Co. Many memorials are added to this cemetery by mistake. (all are correct as of 08/30/2016)189
This is a small cemetery of only about half an acre.
Oak Grove Presbyterian Church used to sit across the road from the cemetery, but the congregation no longer exists and the church is now a residence (although it does not look like a church building at all)
Oak Grove Cemetery is a donation from J.B. CUNNINGHAM, made in May, 1880. Robert CLENDENNING, who was killed accidently [sic], was the first person buried therein. One of the rules for the government of this little burial ground provides, that all who are able to pay for a lot must buy one, while those not blessed with means shall be entitled to a free lot for the burial of their dead. (Butler Co. History 1895)
According to the Butler Co. History the cemetery was established in 1880. Three grave stones are older than 1880, all Cunningham's. J.B. Cunningham was obviously using the land as a family cemetery prior to donating it to the Oak Grove Presbyterian Church.
