|Cemetery notes and/or description:|
This is the very old Gragg cemetery hidden in the mountains and is somewhat difficult to reach.
It can be found by taking the forest road nearest the location and driving until crossing what is known as Yancey Ridge Trail. Parking here is an option although you can continue another 50 yards and take an old trail to the right. It is necessary to use a portable GPS at this point but the cemetery is not very far from here (approximately 100 yards) and follows an off road trail where it will appear on the right.
This is one of the most hidden cemeteries I've ever encountered. I am including memorials for all of the tombstones I found as of April 2010 but there are many other stone markers without names. I know of several buried here without markers and will attempt to include them in the future. Also, many of the graves themselves have become depressed in the soil. There is a chain-link fence that has been erected and someone has cleared the brush within the past few years.
I have family buried in this cemetery and have the higher resolution photos of each of these markers. If anyone would like more information please contact me.
