Cemetery notes and/or description: Pleasant Grove Cemetery at Otterville, MO is in a small, secluded valley and its access is mistaken for the driveway of a home. It is often overgrown, but always quiet. Some markers are in disrepair and some inscriptions are worn. Of the 60 or so identified graves, at least three are of veterans of WWI and serving in the 805th & 815th Pioneer Infantry Division under the command of Gen. John 'Black Jack' Pershing.
It is identified on government maps as Twp: T-46-N ; Rge: R-19-W ; Sec: 33.
It is located in the center of the E 1/2 of the E 1/2 of the SE 1/4 of the section, at the northwestern outskirts of Otterville, Missouri about 3/4 of a mile north on Route BB. The Pleasant Grove cemetery was established about 1850 and was used for slave burials for about 20 years and then virtually abandoned. It was reopened during the 1920's.
