Dixie Union Cemetery is Peel County's first formal burying ground for the surrounding area. The first burial took place in 1810, but is no longer accepting burials. In the 1860's Dixie Cemetery was divided, the original cemetery stands behind the old Dixie Stone Church on the west side of a dirt lane way. The eastern side of the dirt lane way was sold to Anglican Church which started their own cemetery. The founding fathers of Mississauga are buried here.
