|Cemetery notes and/or description:|
The CHISAGO LAKE LUTHERAN CEMETERY is located to the east of the church and is on the south side of county Rd 37.
This first Lutheran congregation was organized in May of 1854. A meeting house was built that summer to serve as a public school and a church for the newly arrived Swedish immigrants.
The Chisago Lake Evangelical Lutheran Church manages three cemeteries in the county; Chisago Lake, Glader, and Hillside.
The church has an extensive genealogy library that is used by many visitors who wish to research their Swedish family histories. Most of the early documents are recorded in the Swedish language. Please call the church for their hours of operation.

In July of 2011 a joint effort by volunteers of the Chisago Lake Lutheran Church and Chisago County Historical Society began the task of photographing this cemetery. Their photos were transcribed and memorials were created from the visual record.
The Chisago Lake cemetery is one of the oldest cemeteries in this area and many stones are difficult to read. Some markers are impossible to read and will need to be confirmed by comparing their location with surrounding markers. This is an on-going project with additional information (obituaries, dates, relationship links, etc.) being added almost daily.
Historical information is often known by descendants which is helpful in creating an accurate record of our ancestors.
Please use the EDIT tab in the upper right corner of each memorial to forward any corrections or updates to memorial managers. Thank you!
