Cemetery notes and/or description: This is a town-owned cemetery. The earliest recorded burial is from 1759. This cemetery shares a border with Sacred Heart Cemetery.
There is also an Oak Grove Cemetery in the neighboring town of Tisbury.
The Massachusetts Historical Commission refers to this cemetery in MACRIS as OAK805.
This cemetery is referred to in the book "Vital Records of Edgartown, Massachusetts to 1850", Published by the New England Historic Genealogical Society, as G.R.7.. This area separated from Edgartown in 1880 and was originally named Cottage City. In 1907, Cottage City changed it's name to Oak Bluffs.
