Cemetery notes and/or description:
The "Friedhof II der Friedrichswerderschen Gemeinde" was opened on January 17th, 1844. It's a still active and one of the 5 cemeteries along Bergmannstrasse in the district of Kreuzberg, which are known as "Die Friedhöfe an der Bergmanstrasse". All of them are now linked through breaks in their walls, and it is sometimes difficult to realize in which cemetery you actually are.
It has a size of 30,800 square meters. The chapel was built in 1875/76. It's actually the second cemetery of the Friedrichswerdersche congregation, but the first one independently run by that church alone. The original cemetery (located at Chaussestrasse 126 in Berlin-Mitte) is still co-managed with the Dorotheenstädtische Gemeinde.

Please note that the final resting places in Germany are not eternal, due to lack of space. This cemetery has a "period of repose" of 20 years. Once the time is up for a renewal of the "lease" the cemetery administration will place a small sticker on the gravestone to alert the family to contact the office of the cemetery. Unless the family of the deceased pays for another period of 20 years, or the grave is of historical importance (in that case the city of Berlin will carry the costs), it will be leveled and re-used. Leftover stones will be collected and eventually crushed and used as gravel in road construction. This cemetery has a lot of old family plots, and graves of many of Berlin's finest citizens. Some of those Honorary Graves are cared for by the city and they display an Honor Brick, stating "Ehrengrab der Stadt Berlin".
