History:
Formed in 1828, Rehoboth United Methodist is one of the two churches formed from the division and dissolution of the historic Harris Meeting House of Granville County. Salem United Methodist Church is the other.
Rehoboth, meaning "there is room," was established as a Methodist Protestant church by the Reformers, which included the Harris Meeting House's Rev. Willis Harris, a founder of the Granville Union Society. Those who adhered to the Methodist Episcopal doctrine established Salem.
Rehoboth's present location dates to 1880, when it was relocated from its original log building on the site in Granville County now occupied by Tabbs Creek Baptist Church.
Land for the cemetery, located in front of the church, was purchased in 1915. Graves from the earlier cemetery behind the church were relocated into the new cemetery.
