|Cemetery notes and/or description:|
The two volumes of tombstone inscriptions compiled by the Brier Creek Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution, printed 1955-1957, describe the Harmony Methodist Church and its Cemetery as being located ten miles north of Sylvania, on U.S. Route 301 - Burtons Ferry Highway (Volume II, page 70).
Although Harmony Methodist Church was founded by 1847, the six oldest marked burials at its present location are dated 1878 and 1887-1890. A former location had been donated to the trustees of the congregation in May of 1847 by John MEADES and Frederick WELLS; the trustees at that time were Richard M. HERRINGTON, John HAMPTON, Bryan ODOM, Benjamin PRESCOTT and Simeon HERRINGTON.
