|Cemetery notes and/or description:|
The Highland Line Cemetery is located on the East Half of Lot 6, Concession 9 in the Township of Dalhousie, in the County of Lanark and Province of Ontario, one mile south-east of the Village of McDonald's Corners.
The earliest recorded interment is that of Charles McLean who died on March 26, 1836; but no doubt there were interments before as this grave is some distance from either fence and the area was settled in 1821. Of note is the iron tombstone of Alexander McFarlane and his wife Catherine McLean in Row A21-4. The original plot holders were mostly of Scottish origin coming from Paisley, Argyllshire and other parts of Scotland about 1821 and later. Many of the descendants still use the cemetery and live in the area. As an illustration the 8th generation of Camerons is interred in this cemetery starting with Thomas Cameron, who died on June 24, 1842, buried in Plot A17-Row 6 and his great, great, great, great, great Granddaughter Sara Jennifer Budau who died July 18, 1977, aged 6 days, buried in Plot B3-Row 10.
