|Cemetery notes and/or description:|
Information about this cemetery was taken from a Pike County Historical Society column "Appalachian Ancestors" article by Ruth May in the Pikeville paper sometime in the 1980's. The article was found in a box of genealogical information which Thelma Aiken, a descendant of Ambrose Morris, had saved. According to the article, the cemetery was inventoried by Bennett West and Ester Reed on August 30, 1984. They stated that at that time it had thirty-three graves, and that only fifteen had readable markers. Mr. West had given some genealogical information about the people whose markers were readable, and further research adds more information. The article is a special treasure as Dow Reed Cemetery is an old one, and is now almost inaccessible. Any further information or any corrections would be most welcome.
