|Lot 6, Conc 7, NDR Fire number 423707 Glenelg Township|
|Cemetery notes and/or description:|
The name is actually Zion Community Cemetery but I think it would be easier to find Zion Cemetery Glenelg.
Land was donated by the owner of the property,
Thos Blair & his wife Ann Hendrick. In 1856, their
son, Thos, had fallen in the river when working at building the Traverson Mill. He contacted pneumonia & later died.
There was no graveyard in the area so the Blairs
buried their son at the corner of their land, later donating an acre for the Cemetery & the Church.
There are still burials in the Graveyard
but the Church is closed.
Many of these settlers must have come from
" hearty stock" as many lived into their seventies
and even nineties.
