The village of Freedom (now called Hecker) bought land from August & Catherine Stehfest for a cemetery thus the name of Stehfest Cemetery. It is also know as Freedom Cemetery and/or Old Hecker Cemetery.

Located in the NW 1/4 of the SW 1/4 of Section 33 of Township 2 South, Range 8 West, Prairie du Long Township, St. Clair County, IL.

From Hecker go north on IL 159 for 1/2 mile. Turn left on Spaldt Road. Cemetery is immediately to your left.
