Cemetery notes and/or description:
Located 14 1/2 miles north of Blackfoot, Idaho on the west side of Highway No. 91. Assessor's description: NE 1/4 Section 18, 1 S 37 E Skog 1891. It was also part of the John Berg homestead on the southeast. The city of Basalt paid John H. Berg $115 for the purchase of 60 lots, thus making about a three-acre cemetery. The first burial in BAsalt was in 1891 (Grandma King). Mr. Skog gave the land for her to be buried in. About 1961 a fire destroyed the Cemetery building and part of the early maps and records were burned, making it difficult to determine where the unmarked graves are located. |
