|Cemetery notes and/or description:|
THE INTERMENTS LISTED (150) REPRESENT THE ENTIRE KNOWN CENSUS OF THIS CEMETERY - OCT. 2009. Plus there are two small unmarked stones and two unmarked aboveground crypts which are said to be possibly Civil War soldiers.
There were already about five graves at this site before the land for the church and cemetery was donated.
This church was organized March 16th, 1877. Land for the church site and 'burying ground' was donated by Elder John R Patrick and construction of the 40' x 60' building began May 1, 1884. Construction was completed by Dec 8, 1884 at a cost of $2178.66 and the church was completely paid for in time for the dedication ceremony on Dec 13, 1884. Originally part of the First Presbytery, the church is now a part of Catawba Presbytery.
ARP supply ministers served the congregation from 1878 through 1917. The Rev. W. W. Parkinson was called to serve in 1918 and he was the first to live in the newly constructed manse. He served until 1923.
