Cemetery Historical Info:
Sandidge Cem is a historical cemetery; it is located in the old Sandidge family burial ground, situated at the end of D.A.R. Cemetery Road, in the Liletown community in Green Co., Kentucky. The Sandidge family came down from Albemarle Co., VA in 1810 and settled in the Liletown area near Greensburg, Green Co., KY. John Sandidge purchased 1000 acres of excellent farm land. The Sandidge Plantation became known as Wilson Hill. The Sandidge Plantation became one of the largest and wealthiest in Green Co.
In John's Will dated 25th day of February, 1827, he stated: "It is my will and desire that forty yards of ground including the graves of my wife and mother on the farm on which I now live shall be reserved in making the division of my estate for the purpose of a burying ground for my family & all the members thereof." Thus, Wilson Hill/Sandidge Cemetery came into being.
