Cemetery notes and/or description: North side of Maple Ave. at Hwy L, Vernon Twp., WI.
"Dodge's Corners Cemetery"
Location: The cemetery is situated within a woods, on a hill - in the Township of Vernon, Section 27 - North side of Maple Ave. at Hwy L, Waukesha Township, Waukesha County Wisconsin.
History: This cemetery was named for John Dodge, who settled in the area, 1836. The cemetery was established about 1840. The last known burial was executed in 1919, and the cemetery is inactive. There were (originally) about 32 known burials. Several graves of the HOLLISTER family were exhumed in 1928 and moved (it is said), to "Forest Home Cemetery", Milwaukee, Milwaukee Co., WI., and to "Rural Home Cemetery", near to Big Bend, Waukesha Co., WI. --- N.B. There are indeed Hollister graves and markers in "Rural Home" which match to some of the names listed here. Whereas the Hollister graves in "Forest Home" do not match (albeit that some are quite old, i.e. 18th century births). As of 06-Jun-2012, "Forest Home Cemetery" personnel state that their records do not substantiate the claim, that graves were moved there from "Dodge's Corners".
As for "Dodge's Corners" cemetery records - no formal documents are known to exist. The hand-written transcription (of the text engraved onto the tombstones, dating from 1840-to-1919), was the basis for all of the memorials added here.
