This cemetery is in the Parish of Charlton and Kidbrooke, in the Metropolitan Borough of Greenwich,(Now Greater London) and it belongs to the Borough Council. It is near the West side of Woolwich Common. It was opened in 1835, and it covers eight acres of ground.
The cemetery contains the scattered graves of 56 Commonwealth burials of the 1914-1918 war. The Cross of Sacrifice is erected in Section D (General Ground), facing the entrance to the cemetery.To the right of the chapel is a special memorial to 2 sailors and 2 soldiers whose graves are unmarked. There are a further 55 Commonwealth burials of the 1939-1945 war throughout the cemetery.Total number of Identified Casualties is 112 (text by Geoffrey Gillon)
