Cemetery notes and/or description:
The Allen-Lee Memorial United Methodist Church started out a few miles down the road. William Owen Lee, donated the land in Lone Oak in 1844 to build a new church, called Old Prospect Church until 1939. It was renamed in honor of Dr. Young J. Allen, an early missionary to China. He had been orphaned and raised by an aunt near Lone Oak. The other part of the name honors William Owen Lee's nephew, James Wideman Lee, who spent part of his youth in Lone Oak after his mother was widowed in 1865. Dr. Wideman was an author and a noted Methodist preacher, in Atlanta and St.Louis. See his biography in The Dictionary of American Biography, Vol. VI, 1933, written by his son, Ivy Ledbetter Lee, who is generally credited with founding the business of public relations. Ivy's biography is in The Encyclopedia Americana.
