The historic community of Burnt Corn, Alabama sits on the county line (CR-5) that separates Conecuh and Monroe counties. While a church or business may have its base in Conecuh County, its associated warehouse or cemetery may be on the west side of the highway putting it in Monroe County. The same can be said for homes or public services such as the fire department or post office.
The New Hope Cemetery and AME Zion Church are located on County Road 15, approximately 3 miles southeast from the community of Burnt Corn. The church and cemetery will be on the left. There are two smaller family cemeteries in the near vicinity named the Lee Cemetery and the John Green Cemetery. Quite often a burial may be held at either of the smaller cemeteries but the memorial/obituary may list the person as being at New Hope in error.
If driving from Evergreen, follow Hwy-84 to the town of Repton. At Repton turn northward onto CR-5. Follow CR-5 for approximately 12 miles to Burnt Corn. Turn right onto CR-15 and continue to the New Hope cemetery and church. If traveling from Monroeville, Alabama, follow Hwy-84 eastward to the town of Repton and turn left onto CR-5 and continue to the community of Burnt Corn. If leaving the Interstate-65, exit north or southbound at the Brewton-Repton ramp and travel northward to the town of Repton. Proceed from Repton on CR-5 as instructed.
