Old German Methodist Episcopal Cemetery
New Salisbury
Harrison County
Indiana  USA

Cemetery notes and/or description:
The Old German M.E. Cemetery is located at the intersection of State Road 64 and Oak Park Road at New Salisbury, Indiana. This cemetery is on a one acre tract at the southwest corner of the intersection. This cemetery is the burial place of a number of German immigrants and their families and descendants who lived in the area. For instance, John Frederick, one of the first burials in this cemetery, owned the lot where the New Salisbury Post Office now sits. When he lived there he was a stone mason, a trade passed on to him by his paternal grandfather in Hessen Land (Germany). The German immigrants were quite industrious. There are at least two unmarked burials in this cemetery. One is Ella Lamm, who is buried in the back row and white peonies mark her grave in the spring time. The other unmarked grave is of Edgar Bacon, husband of Carrie Miller. For years this cemetery was mowed and kept neat by Mr. Chin (now deceased), who lived next door. He is a descendant of John Frederick and wife Ann K. (Their names in Germany are Johannes Friedrich and Elisabetha Grün.)
