After the war ended, the cemetery was turned over to civilian burials and land was re-used. None of the original burial markers of the German soldiers remain. The cemetery is now called 2 Meza kapi.
To commemorate the fallen of both world wars a memorial square was built and is located approximately at the point where the original main square was. The image of today's memorial square is dominated by a 7-meter-high obelisk, which is interrupted by a light cross. The obelisk was designed by the sculptor Latvian Girts Burvis. In the low wall at the top of the stairs is a steel cassette containing a book with the names of those who are buried here.
The memorial square may be found about half way into the cemetery on the right outer wall. Follow the main path from the entrance and you will come upon arrows pointing the direction.
The names are also listed on the columns located in Beberbeku Vâcu karavîru kapi 1941-1945 however the remains were not moved.
