|Cemetery notes and/or description:|
Teton was a mining camp established about 1877. Early miners called the three peaks above the camp the "Trios Tetons". Now called Kit Carson Mountain which includes the 3 peaks of Columbia Point, Kit Carson Peak and Challenger Point.
To find Teton Cemetery, follow T road into Crestone, at Galina ave. turn east for about one and a half miles. It is on the south side of the road. You can see some fencing and rocks a short walk from the road. The cemetery is abandoned and most of the fencing is in disarray. There are 3 grave markers. The rest of the graves are simply marked with piles of local stones or not at all.. Some also have fencing or portions of fencing around them. The cemetery was used between 1890 and 1905 with one burial in 1950. There are about 20 graves. The information about the burials is from the memory of a long time resident.
