|Cemetery notes and/or description:|
This is a Native American cemetery containing the final resting place for Choctaw and Chicksawa, and possibly other tribes, located northwest of Sulphur OK.
Turn north on Burnside Road (from highway 7, between Davis & Sulphur). Go three miles north, turn east on Oakland Road, go ½ mile east. The cemetery is about 1/8 mile south of church.
Because of illicit activities going on in the cemetery the members of Sandy Baptist Church have installed a fence and gate around the property. The gate has a chain around it but is not locked. The members request that visitors and guests shut the gate when leaving the property. In the future the cemetery will have two roads entering and exiting the cemetery back to the church property. A gate will be installed with chain but will never be been locked.
Although this cemetery is sometimes referred to as Sandy Creek Cemetery, it should not be confused with Sandy Creek Cemetery in Johnston County, near Fillmore, Oklahoma.
