|Cemetery notes and/or description:|
Thistle Cemetery is about 150 by 250 ft in dimensions.
It is on a hill about 350 ft SE of the road (South Hill Top Rd), along a ridge just behind the town of Thistle
The lot is heavily wooded, with no underbrush. Most of the graves are marked with field stones. Very few of the monuments were standing in 2008. The monuments are widely scattered and many are broken and very hard to read.
Thistle Mills began operations in 1825 under the ownership of William Morris and a partner. By 1836 William and his brother George, both born in Scotland, bought out the partner and named the company The Thistle Manufacturing Company. It was a cotton mill and sat on the Baltimore side of the Patapsco River.
