Directions and History
To get to Camden Cemetery coming from Richmond on T HWY. Take T HWY through Camden to the last right turn before the curve. This road is not marked but the post for a stop sign is still there. Turn right on that road and then look for a gravel road/driveway on the left hand side. Take that road to the top of the hill and park by the shed that is up there. The cemetery is up on the hill behind the shed so you will have to hike up to it.
Some of the family names on the stones include Atta, Suits, Canada and Brown. There are a few stones in their own little fenced area and some new ones with flowers.
The cemetery seems quite spread out; that is probably why Thurman Funeral Home records list Camden City Cemetery, East Camden City Cemetery, and North Camden City Cemetery.
The last burial was in 1956. A man "shoved" almost all of the gravestones aside. The stones, at one time, used to be in a pile and might still be.
