|Cemetery notes and/or description:|
Located several hundred feet off the west side of Route 322. Was found near a clump of trees behind the building housing Leeper's Music Store and Walter's Sewing Center on Ferguson Valley Road (1978).(Unknown if these stores are still there.) This cemetery was originally on the old homestead farm settled by George Rothrock (1773). Two family groups are buried here: (1) George and Elizabeth Rothrock and descendents and (2) their neighbors, John and Nancy Hoyt and descendents. The cemetery was mentioned in 1856 deed when farm was sold by Rothrock heirs: "Reserving the grave yard that is situated on said land to be left a grave yard forever and not to be used for any other purpose than to bury the dead." (Mifflin Co. Courthouse Deed Book GG, p. 460).
For many years this cemetery was left to deteriorate until a class of grade school children cleared the site and reset fallen stones in May 1967. This visit (1977) found several stones now fallen and one broken.
