Add PhotosCONDITION: Somewhat tragic. Looks like a graveyard for marble rather than people. The cemetery itself is about a half to three/fourths of an acre in size...open to cattle. Trees abound so there has also been tree damage. About 200 plus graves here. With the exception of three stones inside of an iron fence, all others show damage. I recorded as much as I could find and turn up/over while accompanied by 20 curious cows and 1 horse. There are some obvious graves west of the trees in the open field and unmarked. About 100 fieldstone graves here in addition to the 110 below. This was a cemetery where the Gratz area Confederates were buried. No outward sign of that. One Union marker. This cemetery can be restored, in part, due to the surviving footstones but it has to be done quickly. Unless it is fenced in within a year, its history.
TYPE: Family Farm.
These notes & directions were posted by George W. Willick and the cemetery was recorded on August 17, 1999.
