A family plot is located in Rockdale County and is part of the large Sodom Cemetery located in Gwinnett County. The road behind the plot is on the county line and there is a physical Geo marker located behind and to the right of the headstone of Michael Glenn Swope. The part of the cemetery in Gwinnett County had 512 graves as of 1986.
The blurb below was taken from: "The History of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church, Rockdale Co., Georgia, 1873-2001" by David T. Moon, Jr. This book has comprehensive information about the church and cemeteries. The author has listed, through 2001, all burials in Sodom Cemetery, mostly taken from old church records, as well as a walk through of the cemetery.
"Pleasant Hill (Baptist) Church and Pleasant Hill Community continued to use Sodom as the main burial ground in the community until the church created its own cemetery. In 1901 Sodom Cemetery was deeded by J. W. Henry and the Henry Family to trustees W. H. Camp, W. R. Owens, Jr. (III) and J. W. Henry and 'The Community of Pleasant Hill.' There are approximately 120 unknown or unmarked grave sites. Twelve of those are stone slabs, five are rock piles, one grave is marked with the initials 'JDG', another 'D.S.' Some of the rock markers may actually be cornerstones marking off plots and not the actual graves. There are approximately 700 people buried in Sodom Cemetery. This list is accurate as of June 21, 2001."
