Mourner's Point Cemetery, Hamilton, Nevada
I am working on a project regarding this cemetery and have explored the name of "Mourner's Point" further. It is beginning to look like the name started with a magazine article from the 1950's or 1960's. The term "Mourner's Point" was used as a physical landmark in a 1969 newspaper article by a Nevada historian, but not in relation to the name OF the cemetery.
This cemetery is the Hamilton Cemetery and served the city and town of Hamilton. "Mourner's Point" appears to be a romanticized name used by the article writers and has not been found in use in the period of time that it was used.
The Forest Service identifies the cemetery simply as Hamilton Cemetery, just as it identifies the cemetery of nearby Treasure Hill as "Treasure Hill Cemetery."
