Cemetery notes and/or description:
Located in the mountainous northern reaches of Xizhi, this is Taiwan's most prominent military cemetery. It was conceived and designed by Wego Chiang in the 1970s. There are 9,417 earth burial sites as well as a large columbarium for funerary urns.
The remains of former presidents Chiang Kai-shek and Chiang Ching-kuo are intended to be transferred here. The tombs are completed, but political, family and other disputes have postponed the transfer indefinitely.
