|Cemetery notes and/or description:|
All the monuments in this cemetery have been documented at Find a Grave. There are several monuments outside the fenced area that have been included here. There is also an area to the south that appears to be a burial area with a few field stones and a number of depressions in the ground.
Note that this cemetery is on private property and not easily accessible without either crossing a deep creek or trespassing across several other land owners.
This property was known as "Locust Level", in the mid 1800's and is located at the eastern end of Buford's Gap... today, the Lynchburg Salem Turnpike (Route 460) passes through this gap following Indian and game trails leading to the west
Before this area was renamed "Montvale" in the late 1800's it was commonly referred to as Buford
