Cemetery notes and/or description:
Coming from Muscatine, Essex Cemetery is located off of Highway 92, a 1/2 mile east of the Pine Bluff Church, which sits on the corner of 294th St. It's just east of the mailbox on Highway 92 which is 28710 120th Ave. This is the same as Highway 92. The address at the cemetery was 28520 but the house on the highway was torn down and he put up a big pole barn 2 yrs ago. Turn right into the driveway before the pole barn and just follow the driveway straight back 1/2 mile to the cemetery, there are now drive over cattle grates so there's only one gate to open. Make sure you close it behind you when you come in and go back out. Bill Onken who owns the property surrounding the cemetery has said anyone can go back there just as long as they close the gate.
If you are coming from the east it's 4 miles west of Illinois City, then it's a little bit after Bill Onken's mailbox which is 28316 & turn left at the 2nd entrance which is on the west side of the pole barn.
