St. Joseph Cemetery is the oldest Catholic cemetery in Burlington, Vermont. This cemetery is located on the left hand side of Archibald Street in Burlington Vermont. It was mainly associated with St. Mary's Cathedral Church in the early years. First burials were before 1850 and no longer used except for prepaid lots. It has mainly Irish Catholic burials with a few French Canadians.
St. Joseph cemetery is across the street from the Oldest Mt Calvary Cemetery which was started in the late 1880's. The Oldest Mt Calvary was specifically for the French Canadian families that worship at St. Joseph Church in Burlington, Vermont.
Col. A. W. Hyde 1786-1847, gave to the Catholics of Burlington in 1830 the land for St. Joseph's Cemetery.
