|Cemetery notes and/or description:|
There are two Sacred Heart cemeteries near Jeannette in Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania. They are both associated with the large Sacred Heart Church, up on the hill in Jeannette, and the smaller Ascension Catholic Church in downtown Jeannette. One cemetery is the "old" cemetery, the other one is the "new" cemetery.
The old Sacred Heart Cemetery is located about 0.3 miles northeast of Jeannette on the east side of Ridge Road near the Grandview fire hall. It is easily visible as you drive along Ridge Road.
The new Sacred Heart Cemetery near Jeannette is located just southwest of Jeannette on the south side of Rout 30 (on the way from Jeannette to the city of Irwin). This is a fairly large cemetery and is easily
Please check both cemeteries when adding memorials, or when looking for a person in "Sacred Heart Cemetery" in Jeannette, PA. Bear in mind that if you go to Jeannette and ask someone where Sacred Heart Cemetery is, they will direct you to the new cemetery on Route 30. Most people in Jeannette don't even know about the old Sacred Heart Cemetery. Part of this problem is perhaps due to the fact that there is no sign in the old cemetery identifying it.
Across Ridge Road from this old Sacred Heart Cemetery is the Jeannette Russian Orthodox Cemetery. It is a tiny cemetery and is surrounded by a chain-link fence.
