Add PhotosThe cemetery is located on Russellville Rd. in a wooded area across the road from the old Morris family home. The property where the cemetery is located, was owned by the Bryant family in 1950 and owned by Slaughter Hall in 1850, who purchased it from William Covington.
There are no stones that contain birth & death dates. However, they are engraved marble stones with the name of the six persons found here.
The original Covington family, of which this family descends from, was a very large clan who owned many slaves and whose descendants still thrive in Warren County. At present, 4 Covington cemeteries have been identified. The original Covington Cemetery was removed to Fairview Cemetery when the Natcher PKY was built. There also is an African American Covington Cemetery, located off of Newton Avenue in the woods. There are many African American & White Covingtons buried at other cemeteries in Warren County and in Logan, Barren, and Simpson counties.
If you have any information regarding this and other old cemeteries that may not have been recorded, you are urged to contact the staff at The Western Ky. University Special Collections Library and the County Planning Offices so that they can be recorded.
NOTE: Graveside photos are need for this VERY old cemetery.
