|Cemetery notes and/or description:|
This family cemetery of Gideon McKnight Alsup is on property that was originally his homesite. The Ruckers buried here are his daughter Missouri Ann Alsup and her family.
Cemetery name designated as "Alsup-Rucker" to distinguish it from the other Alsup family cemeteries in Wilson County, while allowing for Find A Grave's first-word indexing.
The cemetery was cleaned in July, 2014. Three "store-bought" stones were found, but future work may reveal more. The rest are either uninscribed fieldstone, or handmade, inscribed markers.
The inscribed markers were added in the 1960s or 1970s during a previous cleaning, and represent names of those known by family records to have been buried in the cemetery. They are not, except by memory, guesswork and accident, placed at the original burial locations, since such records were not available at the time.
Some burials had also been verified by death records, but one known copy of the family's own burial records was destroyed by fire. If you know of another copy of those records, or know of an individual buried here who has not yet been identified, please contact via email contributors Eugene Mullins (Alsup family) or Harriet W Berry (Rucker family). Current email addresses are provided on their profile pages.
The cemetery is on private property, Alsup Mill Road. Please do not access without owner's permission, since this is an active farm.
