Add Photos- Frank Pelz Memorial Cemetery is a small, privately-owned cemetery, located about two miles north of Pearson, Atkinson County, Georgia.
- The cemetery was named in honor of Frank Bernard Pelz, Sr. [Find a Grave Memorial ID 82972297]. Born in Alberta, Canada, Pelz immigrated to the U.S. in 1922, eventually settling in Atkinson County, Georgia. He married Vonice Retta Courson [ID 82972182] in 1931, and the couple settled on a tract of farmland just north of Pearson. The cemetery seems to have predated the family's presence on the land, with some graves possibly dating to the late nineteenth century.
- After his death in March 1992, the family named the cemetery in his honor, as a memorial. Despite this, neither Frank Pelz, nor his wife, Vonice, are interred there. They were both buried at nearby Sweetwater Methodist Church, as are two of their children: Frank Bernard Pelz, Jr. [83202135], and Patricia Pelz Walker [122014670]. The first members of the Pelz Family to be buried in Frank Pelz's namesake cemetery were his daughter, Nelva Pelz Tanner [ID 229833776], and her husband, John Wesley Tanner [ID 236287008], in 2021 and 2022, respectively.
