|Cemetery notes and/or description:|
Cemetery is now owned by the waste water company in Lake View. Source: Matt McCauley, Jo Church Dickerson (Pee Dee Queue January - February 2011 issue "Lost Cemeteries of Hillsboro Township) and Mrs. Winston Cook.
The follow was compiled by Jo Church Dickerson in April 2014:
This Page family burial ground is located at Lake View on East 7th Street approximately 1/5 mile from the intersection with Oven Bottom Road. The highest part of the field is where the cemetery was located in a grove of trees and underbrush.
Remembered only by a few Page descendants like Karen Page Cook and Billy Kay Elliott, it was first surveyed and transcribed June 2002 by Matt McCauley and his grandfather, Billy Kay Elliott, who found the cemetery on the highest part of what is now the Town of Lake View Spray Field. (Matt posted their survey to Dillon County Genweb where it can still be found.) The hill was covered with trees and underbrush at that time. Martha Page's fallen stone was the only marker found. It is likely that Martha's husband, Alexander, and others of the family are buried there. This land was in the Page family since the early 1800s, and in more recent history belonged to the family of Winston "Wink" Page who descended from Martha and Alexander.
Transformed into a spray field by the Town of Lake View several years ago, the trees and the grave marker disappeared to the dismay of those who knew it was there. The marker was recently discovered in a wooded area where some brush had been pushed from the field. It is likely the town officials didn't know of the existence of the cemetery, and that the 'dozer operator didn't see the fallen stone in the brush.
Happily the stone has been found by some determined local graveyarders.
