|Cemetery notes and/or description:|
There are three Friends cemeteries in Centre County -
Friends Burial Ground (Spring Township: Bellefonte)
Friends Cemetery (Halfmoon Township)
Friends Cemetery - Alexander Farm, aka Fisher (Union Township)
This cemetery appears to be abandoned. To reach it, turn from Route 220 onto Sycamore Lane (at the Union Township Municipal Building). Park near the railroad tracks. Walk down the tracks to your left. There will be a fenced field on your right. Near the end of the fenced field, look right - you will see a parallel line of cedars behind the far fence. Turn right and walk along the fence line (you will be in an open field). The cemetery will be on your right at the end of the fence, behind the row of cedars. It is very overgrown and many of the grave markers have fallen over or have broken.
This cemetery was read in 2003 and appears on pages 96 - 112 in the Centre County Genealogical Cemetery Series book for the Cemeteries of Huston, Taylor, Union and Worth Townships. That book contains many photos of grave markers (photos taken by Rod and Rob Brown). Many of those markers were not seen during our visit in August 2012; as mentioned the cemetery is badly overgrown. The cemetery was also read in 1927 by Mrs. Adella Fink Spangler (her notebooks are in the PA Room Collection of the Centre County Library and Historical Museum) - her notations that differ from those by Brown & Brown are indicated in the notes by [SP=]. Some headstone that she found were missing in 2003.
