Among the early settlers from Kentucky were members of the James Pinnick family, some of them having come as early as 1808. James Pinnick, Jr., lived on the farm in the Log Creek Valley, where this graveyard is located, in a slightly elevated spot in a field, untouched by the plows that for more than a century that turned over the sod of the surrounding soil. There are eleven graves marked by field stones. Descendants have placed a government marker at the grave of James Pinnick, a soldier of the American Revolution, which was dedicated by the Lost River Chapter D. A. R. October 1933. Names of those buried there are from family records.
The cemetery is listed in the Cemetery and Burial Grounds Registry of the Indiana Department of Natural Resources (DNR) and in the State Historical Architectural and Archaeological Research Database (SHAARD) with Cemetery Record Number CR-59-132 (Pinnick).
Indiana Cemetery Locations, Volume 1, published by the Indiana Genealogical Society (02 April 2005), gives the primary cemetery name as Pinnick Cemetery.
