THIS CEMETERY DOES NO LONGER EXIST
After World War II the administration in Berlin-Schmöckwitz was overwhelmed with the incredible number of burials needed at the end of the war. So much though that this cemetery (established in 1945) was also completely filled within a year and had to be closed in 1946 after it reached its capacity. After a period of repose of 25 years the area was leveled and reforested. There are no stones to be found at this point. The names listed here are taken from local burial records, kept in church and municipal archives. The name "Notfriedhof" means "Emergency Cemetery". The area is now part of the city forest in Jagen 40. A picture from an old atlas of Berlin still shows the location of this former cemetery.
