|Cemetery notes and/or description:|
Another cemetery I found on a Sunday drive. This cemetery is in need of repair as there is a huge tree fallen over in the middle of it. Many of the headstones are either buried under the tree or have been damaged by falling limbs. Briars are growing everywhere.
Driving directions: Take Route 2 south from Moundsville, go up Birch Ridge Road for approximately 4 miles, turn right onto Proctor Ridge Road. Approximately 4 miles back on Proctor Ridge Road you will see the steps to the cemetery going up the bank on your left side.
There is a small wooden plaque indicating it as Wayman's Cemetery. I did some research and found it also has been listed as Wayne Cemetery and some of the locals call it Hoyt Cemetery. I found many old headstones, to worn to read. Many of the graves have only a simple, metal marker. I would not advise anyone driving to this cemetery unless you have a truck as the road to it is in deplorable condition. This cemetery is not to be confused with the Wayman's Cemetery in Marshall County. They are two totally different cemeteries.
