Cemetery notes and/or description:
This is sometimes called Shmerly Cemetery as it is in the Shmerli district. On maps of the city and the sign at the entrance, it is - Jaunie Ebreju kapi.
This cemetery augmented and eventually replaced the original cemetery that was located in the area that during WWII became the Jewish Ghetto Vecie Ebreju kapi and is still an active cemetery. It was opened in 1928, however there is one headstone in it with a death date of 1918. Considering that once remains are placed in the grounds, Jewish custom/law does not allow for their transfer, this may indicate that an earlier burial took place before the official opening.
